koped from nar. very oO but touching.

A scene took place on a BA (British Airway) flight between Johannesburg and London. A white woman, about 50 years old, was seated next to a black man. Disturbed by this, she called the air Hostess. "Madam, what is the matter?" the hostess asked. "You obviously do not see it then?" She responded. "You placed me next to a black man. I do not agree to sit next to someone from such a repugnant group. Give me an alternative seat." "Be calm please," the hostess replied. "Almost all the places on this flight are taken. I will go to see if another place is available." The hostess went away and then came back a few minutes later.

"Madam, just as I thought, there are no other available seats in the economy class. I spoke to the captain and he informed me that there is one seat in the business class. All the same, we also have one seat in the first class." Before the woman could say anything, the hostess continued: "It is unusual for our company to permit someone from the economy class to sit in the first class. However, given the circumstances, the captain feels that it would be scandalous to make someone sit next to someone so disgusting."

She then turned to the black guy, and said, "Therefore, sir, if you would like to, please collect your hand luggage, a seat awaits you in first class."

At the moment, the other passengers who were shocked by what they had just witnessed stood up and applauded. This is a true story. IF you are against racism, please send this message to all your friends; please do not delete it without sending it to at least one person.

lol.

lol hard to blog with a guitar on your lap.... but i'll manage =) don't ask me to put it down i've missed my guitar for 3 days le.... so im making up for lost time. my wife and good friend next XD

quite high now....... chalet was good lol. got to costa sands (downtown east -.-) at 9+ cos i got lost. stupid street signs pointed me to some ulu place when the chalet is right in front there -.- came in to find ppl playing quidditch, bridge and asshole daidee. and throughout the course of the chalet that's basically what we did: bridge, xbox and daidee with other stuff thrown in. but it's the ppl that make it damn fun.

that night after alot of bridge and pomelo and stuff we went to bed.... except for a bunch of ppl who couldn't sleep or found it stifling (it's 20+ ppl to one room lol), and went outside. wanxian venetia szemin and jasmine chua, shaun and enyi, and myself. took a walk, went to the circle of benches outside, and generally enjoyed the silence. had a book to keep me company lol.

anyways sitting at the benches, i think i must have dozed off for awhile cos when i closed my eyes it was black and when i opened them everything was blue. haha as in bluish. when i stood up, the sun was just rising on my right side, and there was this beautiful lavender blue sky on my right and greyish blue clouds on my left. after a while it started drizzling lightly. really lightly, the kind that would make you stop, look up at the sky, and just feel the drops falling on your face. the rain came as a welcome relief, after the previous night which was hot, stifling and full of anticipation. was the most romantic night i ever saw heh. right out of a fairytale story. too bad...

anyways we waited til the rest of the ppl woke up and opened the door for us, then we went in and i slept for an hour or so. woke up at 10+, slacked around til about 2 when we went to that same circle of benches to pass volleyball and frisbees. some damn funny episodes with yiheng, venetia, hanxin, ben goh, melvyn and benny lol. then it was off to lunch at the food court and then a bit of pooling. went to the arcade later and played the drum machine.... quite boring la actually. not anything like a drum set.

yup after that was the barbecue.... quite uneventful except that zackary is a good cook, and im apparently good at fanning fires =/ haha yup. after helping to start the fire i alternated between watching zackar cook and going indoors to play halo with the guys. aiyah don't need to blog about halo lah... suffice to say it's damn fun. yup.

somewhere near the end of the barbecue me, jeff and mervin got assigned to go buy drinks. quite funny what happened. mervin convieniently brought us the wrong way, then when we finally reached the right place we saw hanxin and jiaying who told us that yinrui had come with drinks already. so we went back to the chalet.... where everybody was promptly assembled around the barbecue pit bench with a swensen's cookies and creme cake =) haha damn cunning sia. i love my batch =) and happy birthday jeff. lolx

mmmm yup then ppl left and ppl settled down for the night. we played a hilarious few rounds of mafia and polar bear (damn damn funny u had to be there lolx. all the talking cock and nonsense coming out XD), then a round of indian poker where we found out interesting things about people. everybody was damn tired at that time so they went to bed.... except for a bunch of hardcore people who stayed up to play halo! guess who =) finally went to sleep at 4.30 and woke up refreshed at 7.30. played more bridge, packed up, ate hotcakes at mac's, and left for home. and here i am blogging now.

feeling abit lightheaded, maybe from lack of sleep, or from the around 300ml of barcadi that i took in the morning =) think i'll go sleep now. cya

in anticipation of er more stuff happening, i think i better blog.

thursday we went to mr lai's house. a lot happened so i'll point form it.

- met matthew, reshma, angie, wen hao and mervin early to go shopping. for food la
- waited for all the late comers at tiong bahru mrt *ahem* pjruthchristina *ahem*
- took 63 to mr lai's house at jalan rumah tinggi. the bus interchange damn cool =)
- went to the tables near the bbq pits, to find mr lai playing uno stacko with richard. lols
- tap and toilet locked -.-
- so after bridging/passing soccer ball/telling jokes, it started to rain.
- packed up and went up to mr lai's house proper, holding all the food and noodles (hot water already poured.)
- played uno stacko, ddr, bridge etc. ddr actually quite fun. ruth some ownage.
- presented mr lai with the scrapbook, pen engraved by richard, and apparently some mug from some of the girls.
- okay at this point i went off... mr lai was nice enough to drop me off at the buona vista mrt on his way to MOE. nice guy lol.
- found out that mr lai listens to 88.3 on his radio :O

lol okay that's about it. saturday... was at kallang for the CIP briefing. lack of confidence reading ah... need to get some practice in. nvm lar the course is over 3 months, should be reasonably okay. everybody was late cos the place was so ulu... and cos ppl overslept. lol. anyways after the thing the guys and i (me mervin eugene wen hao) went to ta bao lunch to some circular area and er. just nice 4 ppl. yeah u know what we did lar =) and just after that it had to rain. gj lar -.- ended up taking taxi to kallang mrt. uncle damn nice, charged us $2 only so we each paid 50cents =) nice guy.

and then sunday was class lunch... lol okay this was the saddest outing. lunch at new york new york at citilink (like some overpriced swensen's), then went to pool..... but everyone like half-hearted liddat, and only a handful of ppl turned up... i think we all tired le. lolz. yeah ehh.... nothing happened that was really very interesting. oh yeah at new york new york we were sitting something like this:

|

and woo han was somewhere in the middle. somewhere along the line he decided that he needed to use the toilet..... but aiyah everyone sit down already very inertia. especially wen hao who just came lol. so the poor guy had to suffer for about..... 1/2 hr? before we finally let him go. haha

yup 就这样 . more coming in the near future... thursday's band chalet v2! lol we really like each other. (or rather certain people like certain people) - er. u didn't hear me say that ah. yup. okay.

ahh everything's cleaner and greener after PW. today we all bid goodbye to PW as we handed up our i&r... so happy. 4 of us (mervin, shi jun, wen hao and i) played soccer in the morning and bridged for about an hour at the track. challenged another class and beat them 4-1 =) credit goes to shi jun our star keeper lol. then we bridged for another hr or so at the stadium steps. it's really quiet and tranquil there in the morning =) felt so peaceful and rested.

then after that we went to settle PW once and for all... and then some ppl went out. our class 散 very fast after everything settled... some went home, some went zoo (oO), and some experienced inertia in the canteen while the others went to j8 to eat lunch. guess who -ahem- . yar anyway after some confusion and failed persuasion (your wallet willy. you owe me a lemon tea), we ended up splitting up. wen hao willy and eugene went to pool while matt, me, reshma, renuka, pj, nandita and yiwen ended up at national museum biennale. glad that i went cos it was really interesting =) there was the carpet with english words written like chinese characters, a very interesting movie discussing the last meal that death row inmates are allowed to order, as well as a colourchanging glass pillar that was supposedly responsive to neutrino bombardment of the earth oO haha coolness. thanks again to yiwen who guided us.

so after that we met up with the pool ppl. after more argument and persuasion, we ended up eating dinner at mac's...... and then going lanning omg. heh 2v2, me, wen hao, willy and matt. ahh haven't lanned for so long... it was good to play for a change.

so now i'm tired, but 3 badges richer =) biennale badges if you're wondering. there's one in chinese that says 信念 quite cool. aiyah anyway biennale is a very cool exhibition lar. and lanning well... that was a guy's bonding activity =) altogether a very satisfying day. but i think i've been going out too often. tmr got mr lai's farewell, saturday that NTUC thing, next week band chalet..... parents aren't going to be happy.

oh yeah how could i forget! when we were looking at the carpets, a group of japanese tourists came by and the guide actually asked us to explain what it was all about XD so we did, and then they insisted on taking a photo with their "singaporean teachers" lol. well you live and learn. we somehow became tourist attractions too, with the tour guide asking us what age we were, and then telling the tourists about how we're on holiday and going to army soon in 2 years -.- well anything lor. haha.

okay... answers. lol.

1. i prefer cats to dogs
that's true. i think cats are sleek and cool.

2. i was very rude in primary school. once in p1 i insulted a teacher, calling her fat.
this is true too. =) yar i was quite the blunt in primary school. i actually didn't realise that what i had said was wrong, cos well she was the one to call me fat first. lol. i was in TAF club at the time.

3. my favourite number is 16.
true too. those who've seen my jerseys will know.

4. i can play more than 8 different instruments, including the tabaracha.
trick question =P i can play more than 8 instruments, yes. but there's no such thing as a tabaracha. haha

5. i love coffee. i can't go a day without it.
false. i hate coffee, i think it's oily. i don't even drink coffee.

6. despite what others say, i am totally comfortable with my height.
well, i am =) won't mind being taller, but i'm satisfied with my height.

7. i don't like cucumber.
er i don't like cucumber. all other veggies are okay though.

8. i prefer music and sound in my environment. too quiet is scary.
false, though this might sound strange. i like quiet =) even though there is often music in my environment, considering my love of music anyway. but sometimes tranquility is soothing.

9. the only time i went to West Coast Park, i fell and cut myself badly. i've had a phobia of that particular piece of playground equipment (that i fell off of) ever since.
to the best of my knowledge, this is true. my mother and sister tell me otherwise though. oh wells.

10. my favourite cartoon was, and still is, power rangers.
lol this is kind of a trick question too. my favourite cartoon was power rangers, back in primary school. i used to like the early versions of power rangers, with the dinosaur and mythical animal zords. and since i haven't watched any new cartoons lately, naturally power rangers remains my favourite =)

11. i'm claustrophobic because when i was a baby, i almost got suffocated by a pillow.
omg pls lar. who fell for this one? XD it's totally fiction. i have no idea why i'm claustrophobic.

12. before this year, i had never been to East Coast Park before.
this is true. i damn no life.

13. my bike is blue
i don't have a bike! lol okay lar this one was quite evil. those who know me well would know though.

14. i believe in magic and myth. that's why i like modern fairytales.
heh this is true. a bit childish and romantic, but i do believe in it. i believe in ghosts too, but that's a different story.

15. my current wife is my second one.
this is true too. i've had 4 pairs of sticks, but i've only counted 2 of them as my wives. this pair is my second.

lol yup that's it. final scores:
zhu: 4/5. expected lol.
nar: 2/5 (lol!)
pj: 1/5. obviously fail.
ze: 3/5. not bad lar.
eugene: 4/5 SHOCK SIA.

[edit] sry left out someone. nandita: 2/4. that's a D lol. what happened to straight As? [/edit]

Sunday, November 05, 2006:
okay, i tried to narrate a story, but somehow singlish doesn't mix with storytelling so er yeah. failed >< nvm i'll try again.

on the difference between heaven and hell
once, a man asked his god, "what is heaven and what is hell?" the god told him, "heaven is contentment, and hell is eternal conflict." the man reasoned then that the two must be very different from each other. the god shook his head no.

"consider these 2 rooms," the god said. he opened the door onto one of the rooms. inside was a cauldron full of soup, a single long-handled spoon, and a large family of around 12. the room was a mess, and the people inside were busy fighting each other for the spoon so as to feed themselves. as the man and the god watched, however, no one was ever able to drink any of the soup, as the length of the spoon made it impossible for a person to hold it and put it to his mouth at the same time. and so the family was eternally hungry, and eternally at odds with each other.

then the god opened the door to the other room, revealing a very similar scene. inside this 2nd room, there was a cauldron full of soup, a single long-handled spoon, and a large family of around 12 people. strangely though, this group was chatting in a large, merry group, and everyone seemed well-fed and happy. the man asked the god why this was so. the god replied, "well, you see, the people in this room take turns feeding each other." lol okay so my storytelling sucks. but yeah that's the basic idea. .... quite touching in my opinion. how harmony will create heaven, wherever you are and whatever you're doing. reminds me of something i read too, some time ago, about building heaven right where you are. it entails many things: contentment, being satisfied with where you are and what you have; self-confidence, the conviction to be yourself and not somebody else; and zeal, the will to do something worthwhile with your life. so yeah. just something to think about.

if there is a moral to this story, it has temporarily escaped the writer's mind

i'll post the answers to that... meme? ... soon. next post la.

claustrophobia

okay so it's acting up again. one moment i'm in the reallyy crowded 171 on my way home, feeling sick and wanting to vomit.... then the next i'm out of the bus, and coincidentally it had just stopped raining, and the sky was a beautiful shade of blue with fluffy white clouds (like, i dunno, mattress liddat), and all of a sudden i'm okay again. as in immediately. whatuf?

okay now i'm going to do something that's way overdue. sry mable =) it's my 10 truths and 5 lies. basically im going to list 15 statements about myself, and you - yes you, the person who's so boliao as to read my blog - will guess which are the false ones! yar just leave a tag. let's see how well you know me heh.

1. i prefer cats to dogs.
2. i was very rude in primary school. once in p1 i insulted a teacher, calling her fat.
3. my favourite number is 16.
4. i can play more than 8 different instruments, including the tabaracha.

11. i'm claustrophobic because when i was a baby, i almost got suffocated by a pillow.
12. before this year, i had never gone to East Coast Park before.
13. my bike is blue. lol.
14. i believe in magic and myth. that's why i like modern fairytales, as in fairytale fiction set in modern settings.
15. my current wife (drumsticks) is my second one.

yup that's it. have fun =)
