okay, i tried to narrate a story, but somehow singlish doesn't mix with storytelling so er yeah. failed >< nvm i'll try again.

on the difference between heaven and hell
once, a man asked his god, "what is heaven and what is hell?" the god told him, "heaven is contentment, and hell is eternal conflict." the man reasoned then that the two must be very different from each other. the god shook his head no.

"consider these 2 rooms," the god said. he opened the door onto one of the rooms. inside was a cauldron full of soup, a single long-handled spoon, and a large family of around 12. the room was a mess, and the people inside were busy fighting each other for the spoon so as to feed themselves. as the man and the god watched, however, no one was ever able to drink any of the soup, as the length of the spoon made it impossible for a person to hold it and put it to his mouth at the same time. and so the family was eternally hungry, and eternally at odds with each other.

then the god opened the door to the other room, revealing a very similar scene. inside this 2nd room, there was a cauldron full of soup, a single long-handled spoon, and a large family of around 12 people. strangely though, this group was chatting in a large, merry group, and everyone seemed well-fed and happy. the man asked the god why this was so. the god replied, "well, you see, the people in this room take turns feeding each other." lol okay so my storytelling sucks. but yeah that's the basic idea. .... quite touching in my opinion. how harmony will create heaven, wherever you are and whatever you're doing. reminds me of something i read too, some time ago, about building heaven right where you are. it entails many things: contentment, being satisfied with where you are and what you have; self-confidence, the conviction to be yourself and not somebody else; and zeal, the will to do something worthwhile with your life. so yeah. just something to think about.

if there is a moral to this story, it has temporarily escaped the writer's mind

i'll post the answers to that... meme? ... soon. next post la.
