I think the reason I like oldies so much is because no matter how sad or tragic the subject matter, there's always an inherent optimism present in the songs. The Wonders' That Thing You Do (though this doesn't really count), Petula Clark's Don't Sleep In The Subway, Dionne Warwick's Anyone Who Had A Heart... Songs of the '60s, when everything was so bright and innocent. The time of jazz and hippies, sit-ins and protest marches, when there was still naive optimism and hope in the world.

Sometimes I think I was born 40 years too late.
