My family are readers, one and all. The difference lies in our literature of choice. My dad reads newspapers and the occasional random fiction he picks up at book sales; my mum exclusively reads romance novels (in both English and Chinese). My younger sis prefers high fantasy, my older sis romance and dragons. Me, I lean towards modern fantasy. That, and non-fiction.

A small victory today: I have finally done what I resolved to do long ago, that is, look a stranger in the eye when thanking him for his small kindness. The lift, an indication to go ahead and press your floor button first. Sometimes it's the little things that count.

I read somewhere that happiness comes from setting small goals, and achieving them every day. Seems like I've taken a first step. Let's see if I can continue to do so, and work my way up to the big time. Volunteering, driving, lessons and courses... wish me luck perseverance.
