My dad told me some time ago that, when hiring new employees, he could really tell the difference between uni grads and JC grads. After a semester in NUS, I get what he means. Uni teaches you to choose you own way and to take control of your life. In many ways it gives you a first taste of adulthood, where you make your own decisions and live with the consequences. Which is, basically, what being an adult is all about.
I feel like I've grown in many ways, though being as old as I am, I'm very much the way I've always been in others. Still, uni life is quite an eye-opener. A good friend says life is experience. I say life is learning. Who's to say it can't be both? (In fact, it often is.) Here's to a life filled with meaningful experiences. May we never stop learning and growing with them :) - 21st birthday reflections, 1 day late. |
